A wonderful boy’s school in Marylebone London is seeking a SENDCO for a September 2019 or January 2020 start, this Senior School was founded in 2015 and is a member of the Alpha Plus Group of Schools. There are currently around 275 boys between the ages of 11 and 17, spanning Year 7 to Year 12. The School’s size and reputation is growing rapidly, and this year opened a second building only a short walk from the original building in Marylebone Village and a new Sixth Form Centre.

This is a very exciting opportunity and suitable applicants will have the following:

  • Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination would be desirable, but not essential
  • A Level 7 specialist assessor qualification would be desirable, but not essential
  • Highly effective communication skills for interacting with all members of the School community
  • A genuine commitment to pastoral care and the welfare and safeguarding of pupils
  •  Interests and abilities that can enhance the School’s co-curricular programme
  • Excellent administrative, organisational, and IT skills

The post represents an exciting and unique opportunity to join a department in its early stages and play a significant role in the development of the subjects in the school.  Teaching staff at this Senior School have experience of teaching in both the maintained and independent sectors and colleagues looking to move into independent education are warmly encouraged to apply.

The SENDCO, under the line management of the Deputy Head Academic, takes responsibility for the day-to-day provision made by the school for pupils with special educational needs or a disability, and provides professional guidance in the area of SEND in order to support high quality teaching and learning, including the effective use of resources to bring about improved standards of achievement for all pupils.

The SENDCO will be responsible for managing the provision for pupils with disabilities and/or special educational needs, ensuring that the resources within the department are best allocated for the benefit of the pupils within the school. He or she will also be responsible, in conjunction with the Head of English, for the management of the provision for pupils with English as an Additional Language.
