Women & Girls Facilitator - 20 hours per week
Fixed Term contract until December 2018.
Based: Holloway, Islington, North London
Supporting the ‘This Girl Can’ Islington Project funded by Sport England, GLL is working in partnership with Islington Council to build community links and deliver new sessions for women and girls in the area. We’re looking for a Women & Girls Facilitator to help us make this project a success in Islington. This role sits within GLL’s Community Sports Development Team who are responsible for all community engagement, delivering over 50 community sessions per week.
This is an interesting role that will utilise your passion for sport and people skills. Encourage and increase the participation of women and girls into sport. You’ll be dealing with a range of people as diverse as school children, the elderly and,, religious/ethnic groups, so you’ll need to have excellent communication skills to be able to relate to each type of person and make them feel at ease with the benefits of starting and maintaining a fit and health lifestyle. You could be working with up to 15 different stakeholders at any one time, ranging from local charities and council officers to leisure centre teams and General Managers to coordinate and provide more opportunities for women and girls to participate in physical activity.
Ideally, you’ll have a degree in sports development or a sport-related subject and be able to demonstrate your experience of working in the field from coaching and teaching to community engagement and sports development. You’ll have sport and-/or project management experience as well as experience of delivering on women and girls’ agendas to meet set participation targets. Although working as part of a wider team, you will be expected to manage yourself and your own workload. You should be comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels to build key working relationships. A creative thinker, you’ll thrive on devising new initiatives to work with women and girls to foster their participation in sport and exercise.
